Day and Night Parade Details Announced

150 Anniversary of MaynoothThe Maynooth Business Association announced today that Maynooth's Main Street, Highway 62N, will be closed for two parades this year, and the difference between them promises to be night and day.

The 22nd annual Hastings Highlands Loggers Games kicks off Saturday, September 3rd  with a parade of logging-related vehicles, as well as participation by the Algonquin Shriners and the Bancroft Cruisers .  Start time is 10:10 a.m. and there's a purse of $1500 in donated prize money to be awarded to the best floats in five different categories: Best Float, Best Looking Load of Logs, Best Looking Load of Lumber, Best Looking Highway Truck and Best Looking Bush Truck.  That's alot of best lookers worth seeing!

This year is the 150th anniversary of Maynooth (October 1st) and a theme of 1861 is being encouraged for float entrants to consider.  There is no registration fee.  Just show up in time to be judged.

The 8th annual Brighten the Night Christmas Parade lights up the town on Saturday, December 10th and begins at 5 p.m. and crowns a day of HART activities and Crafts Fair sales. Three cash prizes are being donated by Vance Motors and Scotiabank(Maynooth branch) and Pepin's No Frills.  The popular parade is followed by a Kids Party at the ANAF with Santa Claus attending.

Both parades are presented in association with the Municipality of Hastings Highlands, the Army, Navy, Air Force Veterans (Unit 378), the OPP and Auxiliary, and members of the Maynooth Business Association in partnership with the Loggers Games Committee and the Mud Dawg Mud Bog Committee.
